Role: Electrical CAD design engineer

Location: Houston TX-Onsite from day 1

Knowledge of software like AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design tools

Job Summary:

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical systems. This role involves working with high-voltage and low-voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed designs for switchgear systems, including circuit breakers, panel boards, and other components.

  • Develop and review technical specifications and requirements for switchgear products.

  • Perform simulations and tests on switchgear designs to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL) and regulations.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure successful product development.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of design processes, calculations, and test results.

  • Assist in troubleshooting design issues and provide technical support during the manufacturing and installation phases.

  • Identify opportunities for design improvements and innovations in switchgear technology.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 5+years of  experience in electrical design, specifically with switchgear or power distribution systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools; strong understanding of electrical principles and power systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of software like AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design tools.

  • Experience with power system analysis software.

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in switchgear and power distribution.
