Institutional Giving Manager

The Jewish Museum seeks an experienced grants manager and persuasive writer to play a key role securing and stewarding support from foundations, corporations, and government agencies in support of the Museum's general operations, exhibitions, education and public programs, and other Museum initiatives. This role will manage a high volume of grants, including annual renewals, multi-year grants, and new proposals to prospects which this role will be responsible for identifying. The ideal candidate will be an experienced grants manager, skilled writer, excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and able to deliver high quality work products under pressure of deadlines. A passion for the arts and a strong understanding of cultural funders is required. A background in museums is strongly preferred.

Schedule:
Full-time; 35 hours / 5 days a week

Responsibilities:
  • Write and submit a high volume of quality grant proposals, including creating cover letters, LOIs, and effective funding requests as well as preparing budgets and other supplementary materials
  • Manage an annual portfolio of ~$1million of restricted and unrestricted grants in a variety of Museum areas; oversee grant reporting and tracking for that portfolio, including preparing interim and final reports, reconciling budgets, managing the stewardship process, and working with departments throughout the Museum to ensure successful execution of related contractual requirements; provide grants management support across the team
  • Track current and potential funders to ensure timely and appropriate solicitation and follow up, and maintain complete and up-to-date donor and research files and Salesforce records
  • Identify new funding opportunities through high quality prospect research
  • Review and edit funding requests generated by other team members
  • Represent the Museum and interact with all levels of the organization and donors
  • Participate in development-related special events, entailing some evening and weekend hours

Requirements:
  • At least three years of grant writing experience with a proven record of success
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills, reflecting clear, critical, and creative thinking
  • Experience managing grants, including budget creation and deliverables oversight
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under the pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative as well as direction
  • Demonstrated willingness to work effectively as part of a team and with all levels of donors
  • B.A./B.S. degree, preferably in the arts or an arts-related area of study
  • Proficient in MSOffice and GSuite programs, especially MS Excel, as well as constituent relationship management software, ideally Salesforce or related programs

Salary Range for Position: $70,000 - $75,000
