About the role
The Brooklyn Museum seeks a proven grant writer to secure five- and six-figure awards from foundations and government funders. The Institutional Giving Manager will write and submit proposals, reports, and grant reimbursements. This position will help the Museum obtain funding for a range of projects, including general operations, exhibitions, and capital projects. They will join a highly collaborative institutional giving team.
Responsibilities
- Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, LOIs, grant budgets, and reports
- Prepare reimbursement packages for government grants, including accurately compiling invoices, proof of payment, budgets, reports, and other documentation
- Manage grants from proposal submission through award, reporting, and reimbursement while meeting all deadlines
- Oversee engagement of a portfolio of institutional donors
- Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the Museum and its programs to support grant writing
- Staff occasional fundraising events
- At least 3 years of grant writing experience with a track record of securing five- and six-figure grants
- Strong command of formal written English
- Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to craft compelling grants that advance the Museum's strategic funding priorities
- Experience preparing government grants and reimbursement requests, preferred
- Ability to create grant budgets, attachments, and reports that reflect strong attention to detail
- Proficiency using fundraising databases and Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel
- Excellent project management, grants management, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a calendar of grant deadlines
- Demonstrated willingness to work on a highly collaborative team
- Bachelor's degree required

Salary: $82,742
FLSA status: Exempt
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm; additional night and weekend hours are required during key events. This role will work onsite 3 days a week.
