Job Overview

This position is part of the core Infrastructure team responsible for Arrowstreet managed core platforms. The Infrastructure Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining Infrastructure systems leveraged by all teams.

We are looking for an individual that can efficiently maintain the core ecosystem, addressing mission-critical capability gaps and contribute to the DevOps practice. This position will be heavily involved in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of core platforms at Arrowstreet, especially storage, backup, virtualization systems in hybrid cloud model.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain support and operational efficiencies for ArrowStreet's core platform enterprise solutions.
  • Technical ownership for team managed services. E.g. VMware (Horizon, ESX, vRops), File Services (NTFS, SMB on EMC Isilon, FsxN), Backup (Rubrik, Commvault), Zerto and etc.
  • Develop and support Infrastructure As Code projects.
  • Develop and maintain automation code and scripts.
  • Work with IT teams to document and implement technical solutions to meet the business requirements.
  • Provide Level 3 support to resolve escalated issues and as required in root cause discovery of production impacting events
  • Review and enhance documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures for all levels of support
  • Lead assigned projects with a holistic approach, address any gaps identified and implement automation where possible with the product.
  • Provide cross training to other operations engineers as required.
  • Actively contribute to the overall team's success and sprint deliverables.
  • Serve as the team's escalation engineer for 3rd level support activities.
  • Provide periodic off-hours on-call support per team rotation.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work required.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • 3+ years' experience in systems infrastructure operations or related field
  • 3+ years' experience designing, implementing, and managing a VMWare vSphere/vCenter/ESX Technology stack. Knowledge of server platforms (Dell/EMC/Cisco) including blade systems. Solid grasp of platforms integration with Storage and Network systems.
  • 3+ years hands on experience with managing enterprise level storage solutions (NAS, SAN, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SMB, NFS)
  • Experience in configuration and maintenance of applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems and messaging systems
  • Experience working Disaster Recovery, Backup and Recovery solutions (Zerto, Rubrik).
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience with configuration management or IaC such as Ansible and Terraform
  • Experience in completing enterprise projects independently.
  • Strong working practice towards security and compliance, cost management and performance optimization.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and a focus on customer service
Technical Plus
  • AWS experience with compute and storage solutions.
  • Solid understanding of multi-site design and hybrid designs. Knowledge of application flow and systems design desirable.
