JOB DESCRIPTION

Please note: Require fifteen or more years of experience serving in the capacity as an Oracle database administrator (DBA) supporting PeopleSoft Financials, CRM and/or HCM.

Responsibilities:
The New York State has recently installed a modernized retirement benefit administration program. The implemented platform is an Oracle PeopleSoft solution. NYSLRS requires individual(s) with Oracle DBA skills to work with our in-house Oracle DBA team to support the database unit in the administration of Oracle databases. • Upgrading databases to new versions.
  • Patching databases quarterly and apply patches to resolve one off bug fixes.
  • Conduct switchover or failover to Data Guard instances and gap resolution.
  • Backup and recoveries of databases.
  • Resolve performance issues.
  • Writing and maintaining scripts used to support database systems.
  • Database cloning.
  • Creation of new databases.
  • Ad hoc reporting.
  • Work with Oracle support, as necessary.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Fifteen or more years of experience serving in the capacity as an Oracle database administrator (DBA) supporting PeopleSoft Financials, CRM and/or HCM.
  • Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.
  • Five years of experience supporting an Oracle PeopleSoft implementation of a retirement benefit administration program.
  • Experience working with Oracle version19c.
  • One year or more experience with Oracle Cloud (OCI).
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to Exadata performance, hardware, software, and connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Exadata's unique storage architecture, including storage optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols as they relate to Exadata.
  • Ability to apply patches, updates, and security fixes to both the Oracle Database and Exadata software stack.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for Exadata systems, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Experienced in Oracle Advanced Security (TDE).
  • Experienced in Data Guard setup, switchover, fail over and gap resolution.
  • Seven years of experience in backup, cloning and recovery strategies of at least 1 TB systems, including: RMAN and Filesystem clone, datapump.
  • Seven years of experience identifying problem SQL, analyzing execution plans, and developing tuning options.
  • Seven years of experience utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Experience with Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Knowledge in Unix and Linux Operating Systems and scripting experience in these environments.
