Job Description Summary

In this role, you will be the technical (thermal design) team leader of new HPT stage 1 blades for the GE9X program, with the objective to mature the design and meet the program objectives in terms of Time On Wing. You will use sound engineering judgement that is grounded in heat transfer and fluid mechanics fundamentals to make decisions and recommendations. The design activities will include all blade characteristics, i.e. casting, machining and coating definition. During the design phase, you will tightly collaborate with the mechanical design team, aerodynamics team and manufacturing. Once designed, you will lead the execution of component tests and validation after the engine endurance tests. The objective is also to improve the state-of-the-art of turbine airfoil systems by opening the design space and introducing new technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

• Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements.

• Acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

• Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

• Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

• Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university or college

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering.

Desired Characteristics

• Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

• Previous experience in design of Turbine Airfoils or other Superalloy components.

• Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams.

• Documented experience of being a self-starter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions, while constantly learning and mentoring others.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Established project management skills.
