Job Description Summary

The Engineering Sciences Organization, Thermal System Design Lead Engineer will report to the GE Aerospace Evendale site Thermal Manager and be responsible for the design and execution of advanced cooling techniques for the next generation applications. In this role, you will participate in thermal design, support, and validate engine demonstration. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of engineering organizations and contribute to the development of the engine systems and designs. You will contribute to technical maturation of state-of-the-art hardware, improving existing products, and designing the future of flight.

Job Description

As a Lead Engineer - ATO Thermal Systems, you will:

Develop and execute with guidance the analysis, design, test and integration of advanced cooling designs using NGT and FloSim.

Engineering activities relating to the sciences of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.

Develop and apply knowledge of the movement of air as a fluid through complex mechanical systems and the exchange of thermal energy between components.

Collaborate with others by sharing information to solve problems and promote open dialogue.Communicate openly and clearly with other team members from other disciplines.

Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.

Implement lean standard practices applicable to thermal design.

Recommend productivity improvement strategies to advanced cooling thermal designs.

Ensure proper documentation in a timely manner following all engineering policies and procedures.

Monitor and communicate project status updates to relevant leadership team members.

Present or review key technical review presentations to ensure engineering excellence.

Actively participate and support various technical community meetings & activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or closely related field of Engineering.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant thermal design experience.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer or fluid mechanics preferred

Prior experience in the fundamentals of heat transfer and compressible flows.

Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.

Experience with fluid flow & heat transfer analytical software.

Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.

Proven ability to demonstrate heat transfer and fluid flow principles with hand calculations, and apply physical principles to more complex engineering modeling

Creativity and initiative to improve products and processes.

Ability to plan, execute, and document engineering activities and coordinate several projects simultaneously

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Shares critical information, speaks with candor, and contributes constructively
