IT Security Engineer (New York, NY)
We are looking for an experienced IT Security Engineer to design, implement, and manage security measures to protect our organization’s information systems and technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be adept at identifying vulnerabilities, deploying security solutions, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will play a critical role in defending our systems from cyber threats and contributing to our overall security strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Design and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain security architectures, policies, and procedures for Haver IT systems and infrastructure.
Threat Detection and Response: Monitor security systems, detect potential threats, and respond to security incidents. Work with SOC and relevant vendors to remediate
Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks.
System Patching Cadence: Make sure VM’s and applications are kept up to date.
Compliance and Audits: Ensure that security practices comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Prepare for and participate in security audits.
Incident Management: Lead investigations into security incidents, coordinate with other teams, and provide detailed reports on incidents, including remediation steps and future prevention strategies.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
Security Awareness: Educate and train employees on security best practices, policies, and procedures to foster a security-conscious culture.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices. Propose and implement improvements to enhance the organization’s security posture.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related security adjacent field. Relevant certifications a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT security, including hands-on experience with security technologies and incident response. Public Cloud experience a plus, especially in Azure.
Technical Skills: A good familiarity of what modern security tools are (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, etc.), network security, and knowledge of security protocols (SSL/TLS, VPNs, etc.).
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to collective goals. Able to communicate clearly and be patient with users.
