LBNF/DUNE-US NEAR SITE ESH COORDINATOR:

We support discovery science experiments in Illinois and South Dakota and at locations around the world, including Canada, mountaintops in Arizona and Chile, and the South Pole.
An ESH Coordinator is sought to join Fermilab's Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) Project team. The LBNF/DUNE Project is hosted by Fermilab in Batavia, IL, but includes participation from universities and laboratories from around the world. The project includes construction of a beamline and near detector at Fermilab (the Near Site) and a large underground detector at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota (the Far Site). The LBNF/DUNE project will design and construct one of the largest proposed neutrino experiments in the world over the next several years.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The LBNF/DUNE Near Site ESH Coordinator organizationally reports to the LBNF/DUNE Project ESH Manager at Fermilab but is responsible to coordinate very closely with the LBNF Near Site Conventional Facilities (NSCF) Project Manager, Construction Coordinators, and other members of the Near Site Conventional Facilities, Beamline, and Near Detector team members. Under limited direction, this position has responsibility to support and provide oversight for the Fermilab ESH program at the LBNF Near Site in Batavia, IL and its implementation by the designated Subcontractors.
YOU WILL:
Develop, drafts, monitors, and provides document control for the ESH policies, programs and standards and assures compliance with respect to all applicable regulations, requirements and orders.
Initiate Division/Section specific ESH policies and procedures either to ensure compliance with Laboratory policies or to address specific issues within the Division, Section or Center.
Act as the ESH and expert or lead person for Division/Section/Center projects and programs.
Serve on a laboratory ESH subcommittee or subcommittee ad hoc groups; develops and implements Laboratory ESH and policies by being an active participant in the activities of the subcommittee or an ad hoc group.
May serve as chair of the subcommittee or chair Division/ Section/Center committees or projects.
Supervise or conduct ESH and audits, site inspections, incident investigations and monitors trend analysis in order to identify improvements to implement.
Review engineering documents for compliance with applicable codes and standards. Reviews are not limited to drawings, and the applicable codes and standards are not limited to ESH.
Submit reports to management as required and requested based on analysis of Lab's ESH and organizational performance.
Lead in the development of the Division/Section/Center ES&H contractor assurance programs and ensures compliance.
Provide daily support and oversight to the NSCF Construction Manager Advisor (CMa) Field ESH Coordinators and the Subcontractor ESH Managers.
Assist in the development of the LBNF construction site work planning and control process including support in the development of the Hazard Analysis (HA) process with the multiple Subcontractors at the Near Site.
Initiate, perform, and document jobsite inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, corrective actions, and lessons learned. This necessitates the ability to think independently, communicate thoroughly and facilitate the implementation of corrective behaviors.
Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders ESH related inquiries at the Near Site.
Provide daily support and oversight to the Beamline and Near Detector installation management teams.
