Department Summary
System IT is a component of The University of North Texas System. The mission of System IT is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model.
System IT provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. These include: shared resources of data centers, computing hardware, software applications, network and voice communications, collaboration and productivity capabilities, central web services, risk management, and security and compliance services. As a department, we strive to provide the most professional personnel possible to serve our campus constituents.

Position Overview
The Director of Cybersecurity Operations is a senior leadership position that reports to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The Director of Cybersecurity Operations manages security services and controls delivered to the enterprise, monitors the effectiveness of security services and controls, manages security operations, manages incident response, provides subject matter expertise on security issues, acts as a first point of contact for security incidents, provides advice and consultation to the IT compliance program, and provides strategic and tactical support to the CISO.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Deep understanding related to IT security encompassing endpoint technologies, applications, network, data center and cloud technologies * Knowledge of industry security standards, frameworks, regulations, and best practices * Knowledge and experience with security principles, technologies, and processes * Knowledge of security operations * Knowledge of incident response processes and procedures * Strong communication skills which include the ability to communicate with business executives and technical professionals * Personnel management skills * Project management and planning * Knowledge of risk management principles * Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery planning * Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware * Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information
Preferred Qualifications
CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certification or ability to obtain certification within a year. Experience in higher education, government, research, or the public sector.
