Role Description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our growing team in Los Angeles, California.
This role focuses on providing technical and design consulting services for instrumentation, control systems, and network infrastructure within the municipal water and wastewater industry. As an I&C Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of professionals to support various aspects of water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
Role Accountabilities:
In this position, you will work in a collaborative environment, evaluating and designing control systems that meet client needs. Your responsibilities will include preparing technical documents such as SCADA system architectures, communications system and network designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control schematics, panel layouts, and other design documents. You will also coordinate with various engineering teams, such as process, mechanical, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
You will be responsible for providing engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment and software submittals, addressing contractor RFIs, and ensuring project specifications are met. Additionally, you will conduct field inspections, oversee construction projects, ensure adherence to safety standards, and manage quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes. Your involvement will extend to factory testing, site acceptance testing, and assisting with the startup of projects.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering, or a closely related field, is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation within the water/wastewater sector. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months.
Key Skills and Attributes :
To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, the ability to self-direct and manage multiple assignments, and experience in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment. You should also have experience designing SCADA HMI and PLC hardware and software architectures, as well as industrial network design. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit is beneficial, along with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Travel will be required up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred qualifications include experience with PLC/HMI programming, designing communication networks for SCADA systems, and knowledge of water/wastewater process control.
