Chief Estimator
to join our team! The salary range is $160,000 - $190,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
The Chief Estimator leads the estimating department for the Electrical Group. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all personnel in the department while ensuring adherence to best practices and procedures. Review all estimates for accuracy in takeoffs and proposals. Focused on producing accurate electrical construction cost estimates, offering expertise, raising concerns and considerations to improve the installation and performance of facility systems, and supporting our project planning goals. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with our customers who handle the day-to-day estimating for their companies.
Department Management:
Oversee staffing, conduct wage reviews, and assign tasks to ensure department efficiency. Implement performance evaluation processes and maintain department records, including bid results and archives. Project Management:
Assign estimators to incoming projects and manage workloads. Coordinate with project management and purchasing teams during job turnovers. Estimating Procedures and Database Maintenance:
Implement and uphold corporate estimating standards using designated software and databases. Regularly update and maintain the estimating database to ensure current information and accuracy. Bid Strategy and Execution:
Collaborate with executives and business development teams to select suitable projects and develop bidding strategies. Lead business development meetings to outline upcoming opportunities and discuss contractor relationships and bid schedules. Estimate Review and Compliance:
Ensure all final estimate packages are complete and accurate before submission. Evaluate code compliance and suggest cost-saving alternatives to improve customer value. Proposal Management:
Review and plan scope/proposal letters for projects, ensuring alignment with bid strategies. Follow up on proposals to secure the company's position as a preferred contractor, emphasizing capability and cost-effectiveness. Cost Tracking and Analysis:
Maintain a comprehensive database of historical pricing and cost information for future project assessments. Continuously track and update estimating data for accuracy and relevance in budgeting. Personnel Development:
Evaluate department personnel to identify training needs and set performance goals. Lead initiatives for staff development and maintain a collaborative team environment. Client Relationships:
Develop and sustain strong relationships with clients, focusing on understanding their day-to-day estimating needs. Engage in continuous interaction to ensure client satisfaction and retention. Compliance and Prequalification Coordination:
Ensure adherence to industry best practices and company procedures across all estimating activities. Work with the Marketing Manager to manage all prequalification requirements, maintaining the company's market competitiveness. Benefits:
