FlexStaff is seeking an experienced Operations Director
to join our client's team, a leading manufacturer of optics technology for the defense, aerospace and commercial industries.
This is a full-time, direct hire position, located ONSITE in Suffolk County, NY.
As Operations Director, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and operational performance of the site including production, quality management and facilities. This role is very hands-on and will have daily interactions on the production floor. The Operations Director will have direct people management responsibility for Quality, Production, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Engineering (about 25 people).

Requirements:
BS and/or MS in Engineering
Minimum 15 years of manufacturing management experience-preferably in optical components or assemblies or related high precision products

Operations:
Comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing environment and agility to handle changing conditions affecting the business
Customer focused leadership driving the performance of end to end manufacturing.
Deep experience with ERP systems and applications
Ensure that all aspects of the business are engaged in continuous improvement, regulatory and legal compliance as well as the highest standards of quality and safety
Review and mitigate risks to the business
Responsible for overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and initiatives within the organization
Proactively identifying talent and skill gaps, as well as facilitating their development
Cost Control
Responsible for the financial and operational target and productivity including cost of quality of manufacturing and engineering
Understand and deploy the strategy, policies, and financial metrics
Engineering
Create, communicate and implement engineering processes and procedures
Lead the engineering team in converting customer RFQs into workable solutions
Manage origination, development and publication of new intellectual property and related patent filings
Management
Work with the business development and sales team to generate and evaluate new opportunities
Represent operations and production in cross-functional product creation teams
Represent and be a key decision maker in relevant interactions with customers, suppliers, and key industry resources
Participate in Sales and Operations Planning
Accountability
Present and available to effectively manage important business issues when they arise.
