POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager
REPORTS TO: CEO/President
Experience in Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.
POSITION OBJECTIVE: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team and lead our manufacturing operations to new heights of efficiency and productivity. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing, including pharmacy, blending, compression, packaging, and warehousing operations, equipment & facility maintenance, planning & scheduling, off-site OEM & CMO, operation optimization, efficiency, and output, inventory & supply chain management, ERP system & reports, budget management, personnel training & development, regulatory compliance etc. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building a cohesive culture, improving efficiency, supporting vigorous growth, and maximizing bottom line for the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operational Leadership: •Provide strategic direction and leadership to the manufacturing team to achieve production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. •Develop and implement operational procedures and best practices to optimize manufacturing processes and maximize efficiency. •Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing solutions to drive operational excellence. •Production, planning and prioritization for all channels. Achieve production targets through coaching and direction provided to Planner/Scheduler.
2. Machine Performance Optimization: •Oversee the performance of blending, compression, bottling, and blister machines, ensuring they operate at maximum efficiency and output. •Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize machine uptime and reliability. Support using non-prime manufacturing hours for machine maintenance. •Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to promptly address any mechanical or technical issues. Build a robust maintenance and engineering team to support the company's machine-driven manufacturing philosophy. Maintain a critical spare parts inventory for key machineries to minimize downtime. Build an in-house machine shop to support fabrication of parts and machine repairs. •Develop a master plan to maintain and replace each piece of equipment over its life cycle to assure that it is performing at peak level at all times.
3. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance: •Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and company quality control procedures. •Implement quality assurance measures to guarantee the integrity and purity of our pharmaceutical products. •Facilitate regular audits and inspections to identify and resolve any compliance issues or deviations.
4. Inventory and Supply Chain Management: •Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely availability of raw materials and components. •Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and reduce carrying costs. •Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to satisfy required specifications, negotiate favorable terms and improve supply chain efficiency.
5. Team Development and Training: •Recruit, train, and develop manufacturing personnel to build a highly skilled and motivated team. •Provide coaching and mentorship to employees to foster professional growth and career advancement. •Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to standard operating procedures.
6. Budget Management: •Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to meet production targets. •Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing expenditures. •Monitor expenses and financial performance metrics to track budget adherence and identify variances.
7. ERP System: •Responsible for ERP system maintenance, upgrades, and training. •Fully utilize all available modules to optimize and maximize manufacturing operations. •Develop, improvement, and maintain all necessary reports to provide in-depth analysis on operational data to provide recommendations and solutions for continued improvement. • 8. Collaboration and Communication: •Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, R&D, procurement, outsourcing, quality control, and regulatory affairs, to support new product launches and process improvements. •Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on manufacturing performance, challenges, and opportunities. •Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork to achieve common goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. •Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in the OTC pharmaceutical industry. •Proven track record of success in optimizing manufacturing processes and driving operational efficiency improvements. •Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence. •In-depth knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and quality assurance principles. •Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives. •Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. •Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. •Demonstrated proficiency in budget management and resource allocation. •Certifications in manufacturing management or quality assurance (e.g., CPIM, CQE) are a plus.
