Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three state-of-the art battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford’s 100-years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK On’s 30+ years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the world’s best battery manufacturer.

The Technical Trainer at BlueOval SK will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

The Technical Trainer will be responsible to will be to design and lead training programs to help employees learn new, and enhance previously learned technical skills. The technical trainer will facilitate classroom training, and provide hands-on training at the employee’s workstation. The Technical Trainer position is a cross-functions training role--the technical trainer will provide knowledge and skills training designed to enhance and remediate both the technical skills and the performance of all production and maintenance workers. The technical trainer’s role involves facilitating, monitoring and, at times, developing training. General duties will include delivering program content, real-time workstation troubleshooting inside the plant, training tracking and evaluating impact to ensure that BOSK’s production, and maintenance employees have the knowledge, skills, and capabilities to perform successfully in their current and future positions. The technical trainer will also be responsible for the transfer of both higher-level product knowledge and processes to members of the BOSK Learning and Development team. This role is essential to ensuring the continuous development of our maintenance team, promoting safety, minimizing downtime, and supporting operational excellence. This role requires flexible for a day or night shift.

Develop and Deliver Training Programs:

Design, implement, and conduct hands-on and classroom training for maintenance personnel on electrical, mechanical, vision and automation systems.

Create customized training modules focusing on equipment specific to battery manufacturing (e.g., mixing, coating, assembly, formation, and testing equipment).

Train on Key Systems and Equipment:

Develop courses on Mitsubishi Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Mitsubishi Graphical Operator Terminals Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Mitsubishi Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), ABB, Kuka and Fanuc robotics, and electrical safety.

Provide training on predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for production-critical machinery.

Assess Competency Levels:

Conduct skills assessments to determine competency levels and identify knowledge gaps.

Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through written exams, practical assessments, and feedback sessions.

Oversee On the job training for both hourly and salary maintenance personnel

Ensure Regulatory Compliance:

Train staff on safety procedures, Energy Control and Power Lockout (ECPL), and compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant regulations.

Maintain training records and certifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Support Continuous Improvement:

Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to identify process inefficiencies and integrate new maintenance practices.

Stay up to date with the latest technologies and practices in equipment maintenance, automation, and battery production.

Develop Training Resources:

Create and update training materials, including manuals, presentations, and videos.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

LMS Experience:

Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools to manage training programs.

This role requires flexibility for a day or night shift.

Preferred Requirements:

Certification in OSHA, NFPA 70E, or a related safety program is preferred.

Technical certifications in PLC (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Omron and Allen-Bradley), automation, or VFD systems are a plus.

Experience in the battery, automotive, or electronics industries is a plus.

Experience with maintenance technologies such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Knowledge of battery manufacturing equipment and processes.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
