Tendeg LLC is a premier spacecraft deployables company. Our novel designs are enabling exciting missions providing high gain antennas for sensor applications and communications. We have 12 antennas on-orbit and 20 flight deliverables occurring in 2024. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar (SAR); and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. About the role:
We are looking for a Harness Engineer that will support one of the following programs:
INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO, MEO and lunar applications. Perimeter Truss Reflectors: Tendeg has multiple contracts to deliver large aperture antennas for GEO communications, SAR, and national security. What you'll do:
Design electrical wiring harnesses or cables for space mechanisms, deployable structures, and high gain antennas, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry standards. Selects appropriate components, connectors, and materials for harnessing. Documents harness designs via comprehensive engineering drawings, cable interconnect diagrams, system pin to pin mapping, CAD routing, bills of materials, and schematics. Collaborates with cross-functional teams of electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure timely delivery and seamless integration of wiring harnesses into mechanisms and antenna designs. Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance and resolving any design-related issues. Troubleshoot and investigate harness related failures, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions. Design fixturing and tooling associated with harness manufacturing, test, and inspection. Develops harnessing for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and other testbeds (e.g. "FlatSats"). Develop design guidelines and standardizes harnessing across the organization. When required, outsources harness development and production through the management of subcontracts and/or contract manufacturing. Key Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Related technical experience will be considered in lieu of education. 5+ Years of experience Experience developing wiring schematics, harness drawings, and Cable Interconnect Diagrams (CIDs). Highly organized and able to balance priorities and interaction across multiple programs. Proficiency with interpreting technical engineering drawings, bills of material, and other technical documents including test and integration procedures. Effective communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience with electrical testing equipment and methodologies. Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in wiring harness design and manufacturing for aerospace or similar high reliability applications. Understanding of EMI and associated design practices for connectors and harnessing. Knowledge of wiring standards such as MIL-STD-275, SAE AS50881, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-2221. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Benefits:
