Software Engineer Intern - Masters
United States, Aliso Viejo: this position can be completed fully remote or hybrid out of the SIE-PlayStation Aliso Viejo, CA office.
About the Team:
As part of Sony Interactive Entertainment's Future Technology Group (FTG), our team is at the forefront of the cloud gaming revolution, enabling console-quality video games on any device. As a Software Engineer Intern on the Cloud Engineering team, you'll play a critical role in the design and development of server-side applications for cloud automation, working on a large geographically distributed infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing: Implement features in distributed back-end systems as defined by Product Owners. Take ownership of feature implementation and delivery. Write and execute unit tests using testing frameworks. Triage and fix reported bugs within applications. Communicate estimates and issues to technical or project leads. Share knowledge and collaborate with the engineering team on deliverables. What We're Looking For:
Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation by Spring 2026. Computer Science knowledge or equivalent work experience. Proficiency in Java or Rust. Experience working with Linux. Exposure to one or two data stores (e.g., NoSQL, Relational databases). Working knowledge of version control tools such as Git. Familiarity with Agile development environments. Passion for gaming is a plus. Strong communication and documentation skills. Accountability and a strong sense of ownership over your work. Eligibility:
Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th. Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period. Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
