Position Summary:
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the overall project estimate while providing leadership, training, and mentoring for their team under the Chief Estimator. Works with clients, architects/engineers, subcontractors/suppliers to plan cost factors for building projects; analyzes construction documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects
Responsibilities: Analyze construction plans and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors Consult with clients, subcontractors, vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Confer with engineers, architects, owners and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Able to read and analyze scopes of work Responsible for reviewing RFIs and Addendums Attends any necessary pre-construction meetings Presents estimates to clients/owners Runs all aspects of the estimate with either SPCM or VPPC oversight Analyzes past projects to compare costs/metrics, determine if something is out of alignment and reasons why Develops clear scopes of work/bid tabs Develops qualifications and assumptions Provides fully developed reconciliation and value management Organizes and hosts meetings with SPCM oversight Manages relationships with estimators and preconstruction engineers Often works directly with VPPC Competencies :
Exceptional interpersonal communication, presentation, and writing skills Thorough and skilled in managing relationships with key persons Must be able to comprehend and communicate information that is technical in nature Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with great ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines Well organized, team player, professional and energetic Strong attention to detail Supervisory/Mentoring responsibilities:
Bid Coordinator Estimator 1 Estimator 2 Experience and Education Required:
B.S. degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent field experience Minimum of eight (8) years commercial construction experience with a minimum of five (5) years of estimating experience Knowledge of advanced functions of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Preferred education and experience :
Proficiency or working knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff a plus
