This role involves leading significant capital raising initiatives and managing strategic transactions that are essential to Generate’s growth and success. The Principal/Vice President will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s capital markets strategy, focusing on origination, structuring, and execution of complex transactions. This person will help manage and foster relationships with key external partners and ensure the successful completion of corporate and portfolio-level transactions. This position requires deep expertise in renewable energy markets, strong leadership skills, and a track record of successfully executing complex transactions, making it a vital role in driving the company’s financial and strategic objectives.
What you will be doing at Generate Capital as a Vice President, Capital Markets:
Drive capital raising initiatives, including corporate and portfolio-level capital raises, debt financings, equity placements, asset sales, and M&A Lead the execution of complex transactions, from inception through to closing, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and manage the transaction team Build, expand, and maintain relationships with current and prospective investors, banks, and other capital providers Collaborate closely with investment teams to support platform capital formation activities Optimize the company’s capital stack and cost of capital through innovative financing solutions Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members Analyze market trends and developments to identify new opportunities for capital raising and strategic partnerships Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to capital markets activities Contribute to valuation analyses and processes Prepare analysis and materials presented internally pertaining to capital formation activity and planning, in addition to investor, management, and board-level presentations Partner cross-functionally with investment, FP&A, and asset management teams to drive strategy and optimize tactics as they relate to capital markets
Candidate Qualifications & Core Characteristics
A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field 7-12 years of experience in capital markets or investment banking Proven track record of successfully leading and executing complex transactions Expertise in financial modeling, deal structuring, and compliance related to renewable energy investments Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills. High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges Intellectual agility, curiosity, and creativity; problem-solving is your default mode Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good”
