This position performs professional technical work of various complexity that requires in-depth knowledge and application of mechanical engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques used to solve specified problems within a defined field of technology. Responsibilities As part of our dynamic engineering development team, you will design, develop and test sophisticated RF/Microwave products. This will involve: Product Design and Development. Lead the design, development and selection of hardware components utilizing mechanical engineering principles, theories, and techniques. Assigned duties may include design and development of specific packaging modules, mechanisms, components, or subsystems to meet design requirements. Provide technical direction to design support personnel. Perform Mechanical Analyses. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of company standard analysis tools. Assure adequate analysis to achieve performance objectives. Perform static, dynamic, and heat transfer analyses of mechanical structures. Analyze data and document results. Coordinate Validation of Design. Coordinate the fabrication and environmental testing of design hardware. Design and procure prototype hardware. Coordinate the environmental testing of hardware including: vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue, and others as required. Review and document test results. Assist in product transition to Production as required. Prepare Documentation. Generate, review, and approve the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation associated with the mechanical design. Prepare design review packages and present for internal review. Support Continuous Improvement. Ensure compliance with CAES Quality System and the Mechanical Design Process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in Mechanical Engineering disciplines. Recommend improvements that produce cost effective and producible designs. Other Duties. Make independent technical decisions on work consistent with objectives. Assignments may include research and development of new techniques and materials as a result of independent study. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Five (5) years of experience in Mechanical Design Five (5) years of experience working with 3D modeling software (Creo, Solidworks, etc) and finite element analysis applications (ANSYS, etc.). This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license). Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years plus years of Mechanical Design experience Bachelor's and 8+ years of Mechanical Design experience Experience with packaging complex integrated RF/Microwave assemblies and sub systems Background of machined part 3D CAD model designs Ability to estimate amount of time needed for design activities, and incorporate product cost during the initial design phase Experience in electronic packaging of components in enclosures Significant experience with developing 3D models, Autodesk Inventor preferred, models for multi-subsystem complex systems Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience performing temperature analysis for design of complex systems Understanding of design for passing harsh mil- aero environmental qualification requirements such as shock, vibration, and humidity Experienced with following a structured design release process and involving appropriate members of the team at each step of the process Experience working with a team to jointly develop a system during all phases of the system development lifecycle Defense background Active Security Clearance Salary Range: Mechanical Engineer (level III): $93,495.00 - $115,494.00 annually, and Mechanical Engineer (level IV): $107,520.00 - $132,818.00 annually.
