Position Details:
As a member of the Strategic IT Programs and Business Systems team, the Power BI Developer is responsible for the business analysis and requirements gathering, development and maintenance of the firm's reports and dashboards. This position requires a combination of hands-on, Power BI technical expertise and strong data analysis and interpersonal skills. The individual will effectively translate business/user needs into meaningful reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights. This is a highly visible role that will interact with staff at all levels.
Supervisor: The successful candidate will report to the Director, Strategic IT Programs and Business Systems of the firm in the New York office.
Location: New York Office or Remote
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate requirements definition sessions with stakeholders, end users, and development team members to capture business requirements.
- Engage in prototyping, designing, developing, publishing Power BI Reports.
- Develop Power BI data models and recommend best practices for report creation and visualizations.
- Implement security in reports and dashboards.
- Integrate dashboards into applications using Embedded Analytics.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to gather business requirements for Analytics and Reporting.
- Provide guidance to BI developers in the team.
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and tune report performance.
- Build and modify tables, views and optimize SQL queries, indexes as needed.
- Responsible for improving and implementing security controls on developed dashboards in accordance with security and access requirements.
- Keep abreast of new tools, trends, and best practices in Power BI development.
- Provide training and support to end-users, helping them understand and maximize the value of Power BI analytics.
- Perform other necessary duties as assigned.
- Experience working with Enterprise Data Warehouses.
- Strong understanding of SQL and Analysis Server.
- Experience in data analytics.
- Strong understanding of financial systems in particular Elite 3E
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, resourceful, and reliable.
- Experience with gathering and documenting end-to-end requirements.
- Experience with developing test plans/scripts.
- 3+ years in Reporting and Analytics using Power BI - M Query, DAX, Data Modelling, RLS.
- 3+ years in database technologies and strong SQL query writing skills, preferrable SQL Server and Analysis Server.
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certified preferred.
- 1+ years - Python.
- Understanding of financial accounting concepts and processes
The salary range provided below applies to positions in New York and San Francisco. If the role is remote, the salary may vary. Please note that due to payroll restrictions, we can only accept remote candidates from the following states: New York, Delaware, Florida, California, and Washington, D.C.
The Base Salary Range for this role is $114,000 - $165,000. This range is based on a full-time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate's actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills, and market data.
