The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in an IBM MVS/zOS mainframe environment, specifically in a system programming capacity. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with programmers and other state employees at the appropriate levels.
The mainframe environment is managed by a third-party provider - Kyndryl. While the majority of the system programming tasks are handled by Kyndryl, the successful candidate must be capable of competently engaging with their system programming staff.
Monitor system performance identifying root causes for performance issues and make recommendations to management and MaaS provider.
Develop operational standards; provide technical assistance to application developers and operations personnel
Design, implementation and customization of various mainframe technical solutions.
Development and implementation of standards and procedures of various mainframe technical solutions.
Interact with customer and provide regular management reports / analysis.
Experience in storage and backup technologies used in a mainframe environment.
Knowledge and Experience
MVS and/or z/OS management
Familiarity of major mainframe programming languages such as
Cobol
Assembler,
Creating system user exits
Experience in the following mainframe technologies.
CICS
IMS DB/DC, DB2,
TSO, ISPF
JES2, JCL, SMP/E
SMF, RMF
Storage Devices
Websphere, MQSeries, VTAM, RACF, and other z/OS subsystems
