Ship Modernization Integration Analyst

to join our team at SURFMEPP in

Portsmouth, VA.

Summary:

The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all non-nuclear surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process. SURFMEPP is headquartered at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Act as the Subject Matter Expert for ship modernization integration Work in concert with TYCOM, Program Office, and Maintenance Teams to support plans on multiple Surface Fleet platforms Provide analysis and recommendations to facilitate ship specific modernization planning and execution in direct support of SURFMEPP Create Alteration Work Notifications (WN's) in M&SWP for all classes of ships Ensure every alteration is approved by Type Commander (TYCOM) or Ship's Program Manager (SPM) for installation during CNO Availabilities, Continuous Maintenance Availabilities (CMAV), and Windows of Opportunity (WOO) Conducts availability integration and modernization analysis utilizing NDE, VSB, and M&SWP systems to identify modernization tasks that may put avails at risk of exceeding scheduled completion Identify repair, corrosion and tank work that may be affected by Mod task Manage Mandatory Safety Alterations for assigned ship class by generating WN's and tracking them from creation to completion ensuring they are accomplished and reported on end of availability closeout letters Update alteration information in M&SWP to reflect accurate man-day info and material cost for each assigned hull for DON and POM Ship sheet input. Assist in program reviews, conferences and working groups for naval programs Develop and present findings, reports or recommendations to analysts, employees, managers inside or outside of the organization, agency heads or other high-ranking officials using Microsoft products used by SURFMEPP Harvest and analyze data from various Navy ship maintenance databases Mentors less experienced employees Minimum Qualifications:

4+ years relevant professional experience A High School Degree, or a GED Minimum of 2 years in tandem of direct experience related to U.S. Navy surface ship operations or maintenance planning and execution including: Drafting briefs and presentations related to maintenance or modernization of US Navy ships Governing documents related to Navy Correspondence, terminology and maintenance fundamentals related to the husbanding of ships throughout a maintenance cycle Navy protocol and procedures as it relates to interacting with Civilian personnel or Naval Officers

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.) Preferred Qualifications:

Considerable Navy Maintenance and Modernization Availability Planning experience. Related experience similar to or as:Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM),Combat Systems Officer of the Watch (CSOOW), Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Systems Test Officer (STO), Electrical Materials Officer (EMO), Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA), Command 3MC Navy Modernization Program experience. Considerable familiarity with NMP-MOM and NMP milestones desired Experience participating in Advanced Planning Sheet (APS), Strategic Integration Scheduling Review (SISR), and Integrated Project Team Development (IPTD) events Ability to support a robust engineering process within SURFMEPP reviews of proposed changes to Fleet Modernization Program (FMP) requirements Extensive experience with Navy/Military Maintenance Database Programs (i.e. NDE, OARs, VSB or similar). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, and works well in a team environment Clearance Requirements:

Must have a current/active Secret Security Clearance Physical Requirements:

The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual. Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
