Description

SJPH is looking for an HR Generalist to join our team. Our Human Resource Generalist serves as the first line of support for hospital staff and plays a critical role in fostering a positive and inclusive workplace environment. This position supports key HR functions, including managing leaves of absence, recruitment, benefits administration, onboarding, and HRIS system processing. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with applicable regulations and hospital policies while promoting employee engagement and retention.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

Leave of Absence Management: Guide employees through the leave process, including FMLA, disability, and personal leave. Ensure compliance with federal and state leave laws. Maintain accurate leave records in the HRIS. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

Assists with the recruitment process for hospital positions. Assists hiring managers to review job descriptions, create job postings, screen applicants, scheduling interviews, verifying education and licensure when required, and assisting with prehire screening. Attend local recruiting events and build partnerships with community organizations and schools. Benefits Administration:

Assist employees with benefit inquiries and enrollments during onboarding and open enrollment periods. Serve as a liaison with benefits providers to resolve employee issues. Educate staff about benefit options and retirement programs. Onboarding and New Hire Processing:

Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for new employees, volunteers, and students, including orientation and completion of required documentation. Enter and maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS system. Conduct follow-ups with new hires to ensure a positive transition into the workplace. HRIS Administration and Reporting:

Process HR actions, such as status changes, terminations, and updates in the HRIS system. Train new hires on HRIS system self service and timekeeping processes. Ensure data integrity and confidentiality in all HR systems. Employee Relations and Support:

Act as a resource for staff inquiries and concerns, escalating issues when necessary. Support employee engagement initiatives to enhance workplace culture. Compliance and Policy Administration:

Ensure adherence to hospital policies, employment laws, and regulations. Assist with audits and maintain required documentation for compliance. Educate employees on policies and procedures to ensure clarity and understanding. Requirements

Required:

Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field and one year of relevant experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and relevant experience equal to five years.) Preferred:

HRCI Certification (aPHR, PHR) SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Experience in UKG Workforce Management suite
