BASE SALARY INFORMATION
Accounting Technician 1: $ 23.45 / hourly

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will be responsible for programming capital projects in support of the Northern Region's Capital Improvement Program, including federal highway, aviation, and third-party projects. Responsibilities include processing project funding documents, reviewing and reconciling project expenditures upon project completion, inputting project structures and financial transactions into the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS), and generating financial reports from the Alaska Data Enterprise Reporting System (ALDER). You will collaborate with regional management, engineering teams, and federal agencies to ensure proper budgeting and compliance with guidelines. Additional duties involve analyzing funding requests, establishing project structures, supporting emergency disaster response efforts, reconciling project expenditures, assisting in project closeouts, and preparing financial reports. You'll also support project managers with troubleshooting financial issues and maintain budgets for the Preventative Maintenance Program.

Minimum Qualifications
Accounting Technician 1 One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
Accounting Technician 2 One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
Accounting Technician 3 Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.
Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
An associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
