Availability: Overnight Camp and training runs between July 7-August 15. Activity Counselors are required to live on site during camp training and sessions-all meals, snacks, and lodging are provided during those times. Camp staff receive time off on the weekends and breaks throughout the week.
Location: Overnight camp is located at Camp Casey in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island.
Salary: $175-190/day

YMCA Overnight Camps provide youth the opportunity to learn new skills, gain an appreciation for the outdoors, while experiencing achievement, relationships, and belonging. Activity Counselors live in cabins and assist the Cabin Counselors with campers throughout the day and overnight. During activity periods their primary responsibilities are running program areas in camp such as archery, arts & crafts, STEM, teambuilding, outdoor education, evening activities, and general program support.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead daily curriculum in assigned activity areas
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and communicates any supply needs to camp leadership
- Actively supervise and provide safe supervision when assigned a group of children
- Activity Counselors spend the night in a cabin with campers and support the campers and Cabin Counselor
- Implement camp program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values in order to meet the intended child outcomes
- Activity Counselors step into a cabin counselor role when needed and provide other general camp support such as working with groups of campers, camp organization and preparation for future sessions.
- Be a positive role model to children and staff in your attitude and actions
- Interact and engage with children in an age and developmentally appropriate manner, and use positive behavior guidance techniques
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
- Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff
- Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their children to have a successful camp experience
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum age 18
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Hold current activity certifications or be able to complete required certifications before camp
- Fluency in second language desired
- Build relationships with a diverse membership base in culturally responsive ways, connect members with one another and to the YMCA
- Exhibit Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Complete required training and certifications within established guidelines
- Arrive on time ready for shift, clock in/out within timekeeping system
