Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 (commensurate with experience)

The Emerging Technologies & Data Analytics Industry Specialist will support Binghamton students' career success by harnessing and integrating the knowledge employers (especially regional employers) and alumni can provide students. This position will support the regional/state economic development initiative to enhance employer connections, and workforce development needs through skill building programs, overall placement rates, and internship rates.

Industry & Campus Partnerships

The Emerging Technologies & Data Analytics Industry Specialist will be a vital member of the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development's Employer Engagement Team and specialize in fostering connections with Emerging Technologies & Data Analytics employers.

The successful candidate will cultivate and nurture relationships with industry representatives, serving as the bridge between Binghamton University students and Emerging Technologies & Data Analytics employers, and establishing pathways for their active participation on campus.

In this role, the Specialist assumes the critical responsibility of managing employer relationships and actively curating internship and job prospects for both undergraduate and graduate students. Their focus on nurturing internship opportunities involves providing valuable guidance and support to industry-specific employers to enhance our students' professional development.

Core Responsibilities Include:

+ Develop new and maintain existing industry & employer relationships within the region for Binghamton University, including organizations of all types ranging from large multinational corporations to nonprofits and small businesses (not limited to strictly "industrial" companies,")

+ Champion the use of internships as a hiring pipeline tool and provide consultation in an effort to develop strong internship and shadowing programs for college students

+ Build relationships/connections with other leaders/organizations within workforce and economic development roles (SUNY Broome, Chamber of Commerce, Broome Tioga Workforce Development, etc) related to college student hiring

+ Facilitate networking and skills training opportunities for students with a focus on retaining students locally and regionally within the state

+ Conduct in-depth industry research to stay abreast of employment and recruiting trends relevant to Binghamton University's diverse array of majors and programs

+ Represent the university at recruitment events held on and off-campus to foster relationships with both new and existing employers

+ Occasional weekend and evening commitments

+ Travel within the region, state, and country will be required

Job Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree

+ 3+ years of related experience in a data/business analytics, tech/IT, cyber-security, AI focus, or related recruiting field

+ Strong attention to detail with strong customer service and follow-up skills

+ Strong public speaking experience, demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication

Preferred:

+ Knowledge of industry and employment trends in diverse fields

+ Connections in local, state, and/or national employment opportunities

+ Prior experience working for a college or university-based workforce development

+ 5+ years of relevant industry experience
