Description

We exist so families can get better together. Each night, we keep 181 families close to the care and resources they need through six area Ronald McDonald Houses® and four Ronald McDonald Family Rooms®. Enabling families to stay close to their hospitalized child supports the health and well-being of the child and saves families more than $10 million in hotel and food costs each year. We also operate the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® program, providing medical care to children in underserved areas. RMHC-CNI is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

The Marketing & Communications Manager plays an integral role in providing support in overall engagement with donors, families, volunteers and the broader Chicagoland community through the development and execution of various marketing initiatives including fundraising campaigns, storytelling, marketing material development, photo and video capture, graphic design and more. This team member is directly responsible for contributing to the success of the Marketing and Communications team.

Writing & Storytelling
  • Collaborate with MarCom team to identify and develop compelling and actionable story content featuring families, volunteers, donors, partners, programs and more for a range of audiences and channels.
  • Track and manage story library to ensure information is up to date and maintain records of where and how stories have been shared.
  • Manage the collection of photo and video assets for each story.
  • Lead content development including, but not limited to, designing graphics, copywriting, and editing, while adhering to RMHC-CNI brand and messaging guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Program team members to identify and confirm storytelling opportunities and ensure accuracy of content.
  • Lead content development for a variety of needs including external events, public relations, print and e-newsletters, acknowledgement letters, blog, and more.
Asset Creation & Management
  • Identify and execute opportunities to capture new and user-generated, high-quality photo and video assets for every story captured (at program locations, events, and in-home settings).
  • Manage the editing of video content (both in-house and vendor supported editing) to create video vignettes, add/update content slates, and more.
  • Leverage photo and video assets to create digital graphics for a variety of needs including social media, website, digital ads, presentations, special projects, etc. that align with brand guidelines.
  • Develop event signage and presentations and manage production process.
Marketing/Campaign Analytics
  • Serve as team project manager for cross-functional initiatives - develop systems to standardize and streamline workflows to meet project objectives, internal and external stakeholder needs, deadlines and budgets.
  • Collect and synthesize data for monthly, quarterly and annual Marketing Reports and Dashboards.
McDonald's Relationship Management
  • Assist Marketing Director in serving as primary marketing relationship manager to local McDonald's Owner/Operator network and supporting agencies.
  • Provide marketing support for a variety of initiatives that raise awareness and strengthen brand collaboration.
  • Attend and represent the Charity at events throughout the year.
Website Management
  • Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and keep up to date.
  • Collaborate with IT team and/or website developer vendor to resolve technical issues, as needed.
  • Update News & Stories section with fresh content on a regular basis.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend all signature events and various third-party events throughout the year as needed for content and asset capture.
  • Support Marcom team with additional projects as needed, including public relations and media relations efforts.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing or related field required.
  • 4-6 years of Marketing and Communication experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Professional, innovative and creative thinker who possess excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to work within tight deadlines, adjust to changes in priorities, and balance short-term needs with long-term term strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills and a knack for crafting messaging for multiple specific audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, as well as digital marketing experience preferred
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, committee members, volunteers, donors, families, and other supporters.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Expert knowledge with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and Adobe Suite (including Publisher, Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Demonstrated experience with Video editing and production.
  • Experience with WordPress, Mail Chimp and Canva preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and must be comfortable addressing groups of all sizes.
  • Willingness to provide occasional support outside of immediate job description.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, must be available to work irregular hours and occasional weekends and nights.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland area is required with personal vehicle or other means.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
