Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description: Work within an engineering team of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to design new products and upkeep existing product lines. Capture product requirements and translate those requirements into a marketable design concept. Research and understand applicable design and agency standards as required. Engineer and support new product designs from initial concept to manufacturing implementation. Utilize SolidWorks daily for all engineering efforts. Oversee and upkeep product BOM’s and item master’s within the ERP system. Implement knowledge of various manufacturing processes including CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, die casting, and more to create products that are designed for manufacturability. Assist in sourcing manufacturing components. Provide detailed design presentations. Build functional prototypes of new or improved designs as proof of concept before implementation. Responsibilities: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design new products and maintain existing product lines. Translate product requirements into design concepts. Research and apply relevant design and agency standards. Support new product designs from concept to manufacturing. Utilize SolidWorks for engineering tasks. Maintain product BOMs and item masters within the ERP system. Apply knowledge of various manufacturing processes for product design. Assist in sourcing manufacturing components. Deliver detailed design presentations. Build and test functional prototypes of new or improved designs. Analyze test results for compliance with standards. Manage production ramp-up and ensure manufacturability of designs. Essential Skills Proficient in 3D CAD software, especially SolidWorks. Strong project management skills. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 3+ years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Technical expertise in engineering principles. Hands-on mechanical aptitude.
