The Role The Manufacturing Engineer in the STERIS Mentor Manufacturing Center (MMC) in Mentor, OH will propose, oversee and improve the processes necessary to produce products ensuring safety first per all appropriate specifications at a rate considerate of company and customer targets. Lead problem solving efforts or continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and increase overall equipment effectiveness. Identify, propose, justify and manage the implementation of capital improvement projects or other improvement efforts. Participate and/or lead problem solving teams and initiatives to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics. What You Will Do Identify, justify, propose and oversee the implementation of manufacturing equipment or processes to support defined targets for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Propose, support and participate in continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, delivery or cost. Support the creation and completion of Engineering Change Requests and manage implementation tasks utilizing formal processes. Lead the development of or assist with the creation of detailed work instructions that outline the step-by-step production techniques and standard work for manufacturing processes. Assist New Product Introduction team with the launch of new products and support design transfer to production. Provide on-going manufacturing support. Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope or several projects of smaller in size or scope. What You Will Need to be Successful High School plus 9 or more years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree, preferred, with a minimum one to three years' experience in manufacturing engineering or equivalent (relevant Co-op or internship experience may be considered). Experience with fabrication (welding, grinding, machining), mechanical and electronic assembly. Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing facility. Demonstrated expertise with LEAN process improvement tools and methods. Proven proficiency in problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of CAD, CREO, SolidWorks or other computer aided drawing tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Skills Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent project management skills and experience in handling multiple projects. Able to adapt to changing priorities. Sense of urgency in resolving conflicts and implementing changes.
