Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego HQ office at 7625 Panasonic Way San Diego, CA and reports to the COO.

Position Summary:

Supply Chain Director will oversee and optimize our entire materials flow process, ensuring accurate inventory management and efficient fulfillment of customer orders. This role is essential in identifying and resolving logistics challenges as they arise in product development, manufacturing, storage, and shipping. The Supply Chain Director will lead all inventory transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, and warehouse management to support on-time order fulfillment for both internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead cross-functional, integrated planning processes for inventory, make-versus-buy analysis, scheduling, materials, and cost optimization. Analyze customer demand, sales forecasts, and historical usage to create effective build-to-order and build-to-forecast plans. Coordinate with counterparts across sites to develop economically sound strategies for production, materials, and resources. Establish and implement best practices for inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control systems. Prepare and analyze customer delivery reports to proactively identify and communicate potential delays. Monitor material inventories, production progress, and factors impacting schedules to ensure alignment with demand. Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support business growth and meet sourcing requirements. Identify, develop, and manage relationships with suppliers to achieve targets for cost, quality, and delivery. Implement and manage supplier performance scorecards to evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability. Ensure compliance with company policies, DDS requirements, AS9100 standards, and legal guidelines affecting purchasing. Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to establish and track schedules, proactively addressing any issues that may impact on-time delivery. Maintain inventory accuracy by implementing and managing an inventory control system, working with Finance to resolve discrepancies and prevent future issues. Support financial objectives by assisting in materials budget preparation, expenditure scheduling, variance analysis, and corrective actions. Contribute to operational decisions as a cross-functional team member, collaborating with program management, engineering, manufacturing, and quality to meet procurement and cost-control targets. Manage customer and company-owned tooling, overseeing requests, transactions, and audit compliance. Design and implement supply chain solutions that balance cost and service, aligning department KPIs with overall business objectives. Optimize inventory levels, lead times, and costs for locally stocked materials, analyzing data to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and improve service. Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy and identify process improvements in supply chain methodology and operations. * NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: *

Required Education and Experience:

15+ years of extensive supply chain management experience, ideally within the aerospace manufacturing sector. Professional certifications in supply chain management (e.g., APICS or ISM) from an accredited institution. Strong proficiency in MRP and ERP systems (experience with NetSuite is a plus). In-depth understanding of industry best practices and emerging technology trends in supply chain management. Skilled in identifying tools, processes, and metrics to enhance supplier value and optimize performance. Leads by example to foster a challe ging, empowering, and collaborative work environment. Strong technical writing, documentation, and record-keeping abilities. Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities. Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional, collaborative environment. Proficient in financial modeling, cost analysis, and make-versus-buy decision-making. Experienced in utilizing metrics and data-driven tools to improve supplier performance. Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position falls within $140,000 and $160,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
