The Staff Accountant supports the accounting department by performing essential accounting tasks to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting. This role includes processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial statement preparation for the company and related entities. The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation. Reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide backup support to accounts payable and accounts receivable clerks, including processing invoices, payments, and customer receipts. Assist with the maintenance and updating of fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations. Monitor and analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Assist with inventory accounting, including reconciliations and cost analysis. Support tax compliance efforts by preparing necessary schedules and reports. Contribute to internal and external audit preparations by organizing and providing required documentation. Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency. Work with other departments to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies. Other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities: Proficient in GAAP and fundamental accounting principles. Experience with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team. Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies. Requirements Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role; experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus. Basic knowledge of cost accounting or inventory accounting is preferred. Strong foundation in general ledger accounting and account reconciliations. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Occasionally required to visit production or warehouse areas. Ability to travel to company locations as needed.
