Lead Test Lab Engineer:
• Develops, maintains, upgrades, and ports embedded product software and/or product support software to enhance, implement and support project/system functionality for the assigned technical effort.
• Mentors less experienced software engineers to help develop their software development and test capabilities and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborates across the other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Systems.
• Ensures that technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices.
• Ensures that product outcomes meet customer needs and that customer and company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met.
First year of this position will be standing up a Lab environment
Work with government personnel to identify and procure bench testing needs like equipment and space
Work with OEM's, vendors and gvt customers to test and verify various systems and capabilities coming into the lab
Work with government leadership to develop a standard that will be repeated over various platforms that come into the lab for testing efforts
Run status meetings to get an idea from industry how things are being developed and where they stand in relation to expectation
Provide and receive feedback on reality vs. requirements
Present/update key stakeholders/leadership on progress and needs
Communicate to cross functional organizations and teammates on what opportunities need attention
Skills Required
Vehicle Architecture knowledge - does not need to have experience developing the architecture but enough exposure to be fluent in discussion/troubleshooting
Systems Testing - knowledge of testing tools/suites, processes and standards
Modeling - SysML/UML understanding. Does not need to have experience developing but enough understanding to work with a lead developer to map out planning efforts as it pertains to the model
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must have an Engineering Degree
Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance
Testing: Would ideally want someone who set up and ran a test bench. Or someone who ran some type of testing (SIL, HIL, or vehicle testing even). Ideally someone with breadth and depth. Breadth being a wide view of testing (running a lab). Depth being more technical level (operating the test bench).
Computer Network/Software: Looking for experience in computer networking and software development. Software is more a high level understand of software architecture and development. Don’t need someone to write software code. Someone with an understanding of automotive / vehicle networks (CAN).
Project Management: Looking for someone with experience in managing and leading projects; ideally leading projects for a system development of some type.
Architecting / System Design: Looking for someone with experience architecting a system. Architecting is typically starting from a more abstract or less defined set of requirements, and pulling those requirements out of stakeholders to begin shaping the system requirements. Then working with system engineers or designers to start developing the system.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $69.71
