Public Finance Associate – Chicago, Detroit, Houston, or Milwaukee
Our client is seeking an associate with 3-5 years of public finance experience to join the Finance Practice Group in the following offices:
Chicago
Detroit
Houston
Milwaukee
Position Overview:
This is a full-time, non-partner track position supporting a thriving public finance practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel, along with exposure to working with state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities. The practice focuses on Healthcare Finance, Economic Development, Housing, TIF and Special Assessment, Infrastructure, and Education.
Responsibilities:
Work on public finance transactions representing borrowers, issuers, financial institutions, and credit and liquidity providers
Provide counsel on various public finance matters, including tax, securities, UCC, and contract law
Draft and manage public finance documents
Engage in direct communication with partners and clients
Manage matters efficiently, adhering to deadlines and high standards
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of public finance experience, including bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel
Experience working with state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities
Basic understanding of tax, securities, UCC, and contract law in public finance
Law school course concentration in business law preferred
Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and matter management skills
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, while working under pressure

A well-rounded, resourceful, and highly motivated associate
Education & Bar Admission:
JD from an ABA-accredited law school
Active member of the bar in the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is admitted to practice
Timely admission to the bar in the office of hire jurisdiction is a condition of employment
