BMC Brockton operates as a behavioral health accountable care organization providing cutting edge inpatient treatment and stabilization for individuals experiencing complex mental health and substance use needs. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are a critical part of a multidisciplinary team and possess unique expertise and a focus on providing quality behavioral health care to acute populations.Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are dedicated team members responsible for assisting a variety of patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for patients engaged in services.Essential Responsibilities / DutiesProvide evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients including prescribing medications and/or other psychotherapeutic interventionsProvide treatment either independently or with physician supervision in accordance with Massachusetts regulationsDevelop treatment plans, measure progress against the plans, and make adjustments as neededProvide crisis intervention as neededComplete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely mannerCollaborate with a broader team of physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists to assess and adjust treatment plansCoordinate and communicate with case managers, family members and other stakeholders regarding treatment and careParticipate in the teaching of students and other traineesParticipate in departmental and organizational quality improvement programsEducationJOB REQUIREMENTSMaster's Degree from a Nurse Practitioner education program (with specialization in mental health) accredited by a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing-recognized national accreditation bodyExperienceTwo years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or five years of experience in Nursing preferred but candidates who have a strong interest in working with patients who come from underserved populations are encouraged to applyLicensureCurrent licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of MassachusettsCurrent valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibilityBuprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire waiverCertificationCurrent advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing- approved nationally recognized certifying bodyOther RequirementsNo Medicare or Medicaid sanctionsEqual Opportunity Employer/Disabled/Veterans
