About the Lung Transplant Coordinator Role and Transplant Dept
The Lung Transplant coordinators are responsible for ensuring patients' continuity of care in all phases of lung transplantation. They serve as the central point of reference for all information about patients participating in the program.
The responsibilities include patient care, education, quality assurance, research, administrative and financial activities, and coordination of transplant care with medical and surgical staff.
* Coordinate all aspects of the transplant process, including patient assessments, and pre or post-transplant care * Understands pre and post-transplant protocols and acts as a resource for internal and external health care providers. * Provides and maintains comprehensive documentation in patient medical record. * Participates in and supports research activities within the Transplant Program and MGH Transplant Center and publishes results. * Is knowledgeable regarding requirements for documentation, data submission, quality assurance and other reporting of UNOS, NEOB, CMS and other regulatory bodies and ensures compliance with Policy and Procedure for Data Submission to the OPTN. * Participate on committees and task forces that relate to organ transplantation. * Shares knowledge through mentoring/precepting other Transplant Coordinators. * Assures that quality and performance improvement standards are developed, implemented, and maintained. * Assists OPOs and other community organizations with educational presentations and information appropriate to the needs of transplant professionals and the public.

Skills and Experience for a Lung Transplant Coordinator
* Minimum of 3 years recent Intensive Care Unit and/or transplant experience required
Education/Degree for a Lung Transplant Coordinator
* Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent experience required. * Master's degree in a clinical nursing specialty preferred
Licensure, Certifications, or Registration for a Lung Transplant Coordinator
* Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse
