General Statement of Duties
Forsyth County Department of Public Health is searching for a Nurse to join the team. This Nurse administer vaccines to infants, children, and adults to prevent illness and diseases. Review each patient's vaccine record to administer the appropriate vaccine. Provides each patient with education, and referrals to other health services. Will also administer Blood Pressure screenings, TB test, sickle cell screening, blood lead screening, and newborn screening. Follows up with sickle cell screening, blood lead screening, and newborn screening per guidelines and provide assistance to Refugee Nurse.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles,and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs;
Working knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices of public health;
Working knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health;
Knowledge of available resources and organizations in the community;
Ability to record accurately the services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports,and medical instructions;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees;
Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations andmaking decisions and;
Ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information, and to maintaineffective working relationships.
Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from a four year college or university with a B.S. Degree in Nursing which includes a public health nursing rotation and one year of professional nursing experience in specialty area; or
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience in specialty area assigned.
Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Individuals hired without a rotation through a public health department as part of educational requirement will be required to complete Introduction to the Public Health Nursing course within one year of hire.
A valid driver's license is required. Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
