Position Description
Provides inpatient acute health care to infants, children, and adolescents. This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease, whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial, or behavioral. Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medication, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records, and refer patients for the services and care indicated. May also provide primary care services as indicated or needed. Reports to the Division Chief of the Hospitalist services. Refer to the delineation of privileges for a specific scope of practice.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bi-Lingual competence in English and Spanish. * Two years pediatric care * Advanced Practice Nurse Licensed in the State of Texas or Compact State -Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire required * BLS and PALS by the American Heart Association required. * Master's degree or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nursing Program preferred
Required Qualifications
Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program; current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
