This is at the heart of the work done in the Global Services Group (GSG), where “Customer First” is our commitment to both external and internal customers.The role of the GSG Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, Testing and Reporting team is to identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk within business unit processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy and enhance the BU's resilience through managing a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.  This is a first line of defense Risk Management position.Join Team Amex and let's lead the way together.The Director GSG Control Management - Risk Assessment & Identification will:Develop a proactive GSG risk assessment model to proactively identify, assess and document inherent and residual risk at a functional and aggregate levelCompile thematic risk reporting (levels, trends, causes) to provide actionable insights to BU on current risk levels, emerging trends and root causesProactively identify areas of high-risk for intervention (e.g., automated alerts generated for high-risk areas signal need for intervention and focus), including conducting independent quality assurance and vertical process testingProvide strategic and operational risk specific advice to support BU with identification of risks and spotting areas where product changes or improved controls may be required within or outside of New Product Governance (NPG)Establish strong relationships as a trusted 1LOD partner, able to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and consensus, whilst effectively challenging risk program outputs to deliver bank and regulatory alignmentSupport GSG to implement and maintain appropriate ORM framework, and ensure risk appetite adherence in relation to RCSA implementationChampion risk management practices within the business and across 1LOD Community of PracticeMinimum Qualifications: 6+ Years demonstrated experience of having identified and assessed organizational risk and associated Enterprise level impacts within a Tier 1 global banking organization (within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) and understanding critical operational risk management lifecycle activitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate against different risk stripes.  Multi-faceted professional with the ability to drive diverse business challenges and who operates effectively in both strategic and tactical capacitiesExcellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact, influence and obtain buy-in from senior leaders, across multiple business unitsExpertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with risk policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standardsDemonstrated history and ability to manage large teams, spread over geographies and with varying backgroundsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageousExperience in at least one of the following: Providing identification of operational risks throughout business processes and systemsFacilitating risk assessment performance in addition to further assessments and testing programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are metEnhancing risk assessments and associated methodologies Leading independent control monitoring, including identification of control improvementsEnhancing risk assessments and associated methodologiesIdentifying areas of risk for intervention, including conducting independent quality assurance and process testingCompiling thematic risk reporting to provide actionable insights on risk levels, emerging trends and root causesORMCMQualificationsSalary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
