And we’ll do it with the utmost integrity, and in an environment where everyone is seen, heard and feels like they belong.Join Team Amex and let's lead the way together.The objective of the GSG Control Management Process Risk Reduction team is to directly engage in the continual improvement of business processes to mitigate operational risks and steps in when noteworthy issues or events occur, and subsequently deploy resources to remediate at scale.GSG is looking for a Director of Process Risk Reduction to lead a diverse team of high-performing professionals focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies. The Director, GSG Process Risk Reduction will:Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive process risk reduction strategyAlign risk reduction initiatives with the organization's overall risk management framework and business objectives.Provide strategic direction to senior management on process risk issues and mitigation strategies, including providing  an external perspective. Proactively identify and prioritize areas within BU processes that require risk reduction measures (e.g., coordinate across First Line of Defense (1LoD) risk identification team)Execute on process risk reduction, leveraging enterprise support as needed to ensure timely resolution of vertical and horizontal (i.e., within BU or across processes that extend beyond the BU) issues that are of highest priority and/or most significant impact to the enterpriseConduct independent root cause analyses focused on identifying underlying process vulnerabilities to prevent potential Operational Risks (ORs), with a focus on the most common or high-risk issues and/or losses, based on comprehensive methodology (e.g., comprehensive risk-based prioritization) to prevent recurrence, and inform control design/ enhancementSupport BU with design of controls and processes, including modifications to enhance processes/controls to improve proactive risk mitigationsDocument control design effectiveness and address thematic control gaps across processes/products Provide independent support for resolution of high-risk issues, and conduct independent testing of issues to ensure complete & effective resolutionMonitor and track the implementation of process changes, ensuring they are effective in reducing risk and align with the risk appetiteDocument learnings from improving controls to elevate the process risk reduction capabilities within the BU and across the enterpriseFoster a culture of risk awareness and ongoing improvement within the team and the broader organization.Be a key leader for sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterpriseMinimum Qualifications: 6+ Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activitiesExcellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU/tech counterpartsExpertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standardsExperience within financial services industryExperience as a risk management consultant a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively  Demonstrated history and ability to manage large teams, spread over geographies and with varying backgroundsPreferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageousExperience in at least one of the following: Identifying and prioritizing areas that require risk reduction measures Executing on process risk reduction to ensure timely resolution of issues that are of highest priority and/or most significant impact Conducting root cause analyses focused on identifying process vulnerabilities to prevent potential operational risks (ORs), with a focus on the most common or high-risk issues and/or Operational Risk Events (OREs), based on comprehensive methodology (e.g., comprehensive risk-based prioritization) to prevent recurrence, and inform control design/ enhancement Providing support for resolution of high-risk issues, and conducting independent testing of issues to ensure complete & effective resolution Monitoring and tracking the implementation of process changes, ensuring they are effective in reducing risk and align with the risk appetiteORMCMQualificationsSalary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
