Position Title: Manager, IT Data Engineering Analytics - Commercial (LSC, OSC, SSC)
Position Summary
The Manager IT Data Engineering Analytics - Commercial is responsible for leading a team of data engineers focused on building and optimizing data pipelines and solutions that support JetBlue's commercial teams. This role involves close collaboration with business partners in areas such as marketing, sales, and revenue management to ensure that data products meet their needs and drive data-driven decision-making. The Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and supporting both new and existing data pipelines and transformations within JetBlue's data ecosystem, ensuring they are aligned with commercial objectives. Additionally, this role will work closely with the Data Operations Engineering team, which is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management and optimization of data pipelines, to ensure seamless operation and continuous improvement of data processes.
Essential Responsibilities Manage a team of Data Engineers who focus on developing and optimizing data pipelines that serve JetBlue's commercial business units, including marketing, sales, and revenue management. Provide hands-on support for engineers during all phases of development, including designing, building, reviewing, and deploying new data models and data pipelines into production. Collaborate with the Data Operations Engineering team to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of data pipelines, addressing any operational challenges promptly. Work closely with commercial business partners to understand their data needs and ensure data solutions are aligned with their strategic goals. Architect data warehousing solutions that support the analytics needs of the commercial teams, ensuring compliance with internal data management standards and strategies. Promote the use of data-driven decision-making within the commercial teams by providing guidance and training on the use of JetBlue's data warehouse and related tools. Develop a deep understanding of JetBlue's commercial data landscape and serve as a subject matter expert in data source availability within the enterprise data warehouse. Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and maintaining high code quality standards. Manage team financials and budgets, ensuring on-time and on-budget project delivery in alignment with commercial priorities. Build strong relationships with new and existing external business partners relevant to commercial operations. Identify and implement strategic improvements in data processes, including introducing new technology products, revamping existing architecture, and reprioritizing tasks based on business needs. Present team achievements and deliverables to executive leadership, highlighting contributions to commercial objectives. Play a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and achievement of goals. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline, or demonstrated capability through previous experience; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience. Five (5) years of experience in technical management of data product portfolios, including three (3) years working with core technologies related to data warehousing. Experience in an IT/Business liaison role focused on managing relationships with business customers, particularly in commercial functions. Proven experience with dbt (data build tool), Snowflake, and Databricks. Strong SQL skills and experience with modern Extract/Load/Transform (ELT) orchestration tools like Azure Data Factory or Airflow. Available for overnight travel (10%). Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located. Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Prior experience in commercial data products for a large enterprise, particularly within the airline industry. Strong Python skills and experience in managing relationships with commercial vendors and partners. General knowledge of budget processes and cost management in data operations. The base pay range for this position is between $131,900.00 and $177,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
