Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
Keeps records of materials and labor for projects, operates computer systems for signage and engraving, assesses material needs, and prepares requisitions. They regularly maintain equipment such as various Xenetech laser and rotary engraving systems, a Graphtec vinyl cutter, and a Ricoh sublimation printer. Creates and repairs signage for Texas Tech University, engraving award plaques, and installing signage using approved methods appropriate for the site. Is responsible for efficiently managing and controlling material resources with approval from the foreman. They maintain an inventory of sign materials and ensure a sufficient stock of sign and engraving supplies, ordering materials as needed.
Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to operate motor vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience in design and manufacturing interior and exterior signage. Working knowledge of design software. Working knowledge of operation and use of all power and hand tools/equipment used for plaque and signage fabrication.

Compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and defined years of experience to align with the appropriate career levels for the Tradeperson specialty in the Operations Division Facilities Maintenance Career Plan.
Pay Statement
