UC Health is hiring a full-time Perfusionist for the perfusion services department for a first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We're offering a $25,000 sign-on bonus!
The Clinical Perfusionist is responsible for the set-up and operation of extracorporeal circulation equipment ruing certain medical situations where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient's circulatory and/or respiratory function. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a great sense of teamwork. New graduates with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply.

Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. * Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. * Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. * Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. * Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. * Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. * Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. * Conduct Cardiopulmonary Bypass, Medical Devices and Techniques for Cardiac Surgery * Skilled in all aspects of Extracorporeal Circulation (CPB) * Skilled in all aspects of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping Skilled in all aspects of Cardiac Assist devices (VAD's) * On-Call rotation for 24 hour periods In-house ECMO coverage * Conduct of Medical Devices and Techniques for Ancillary Services * Skilled in all aspects of Liver Transplant * Skilled in all aspects of Isolated Limb Perfusion * Skilled in all aspects of Left-Heart Bypass * Skilled in all aspects of Hyperthermic Intra-Peritoneal Perfusion (HIPEC) * Other circulatory or Respiratory support procedures as the situation demands * Transportation of patients via ambulance and/or helicopter * Conduct of Cell Salvage and Platelet Rich Plasma Devices and Techniques * Skilled in all aspects of Autologous Salvage PRP Process * Skilled in all aspects of Platelet Rich Plasma and Platelet Gel Process * Skilled in all aspects of Plasma Sequestration Process * Skilled in all aspects of Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA) Process * Maintain Adequate Levels of Perfusion Supplies * Replenish cases and carts after each use * Continuously monitor disposable and non-disposable supply levels; inform appropriate personnel of items that need to be ordered * Monitor and order Pharmacy supplies * Monitor and replenish Point of Care supplies * Perform Equipment Checks, Preventative Maintenance and Quality Control Checks of Perfusion Devices * Continuously monitor equipment for signs of faulty performance * Inform the appropriate personnel of items that need to be serviced Perform routine cleaning of heater-coolers as required * Perform routine preventative maintenance and Quality Control checks on Point of Care analyzers and other perfusion related devices * Perform quarterly Lab QC checks on Cell Salvage equipment * Evaluate Perfusion Related Devices to Determine Operational Characteristics and Therapeutic Value * Continuously monitor disposables for appropriate performance * Participate in the evaluation of new devices Introduce potential new devices with data review or feedback surveys * Perform periodic data studies on perfusion techniques and practices in order to determine the potential for therapeutic value or quality improvement * Perfusion support of Medical Research * Population Served Competency - Evidence exists that staff considers the special needs and behaviors of the specific patient populations served. Evidence also exists that shows the staff demonstrates those competencies that address the unique characteristics related to developmental, physical, psychosocial, mental, emotional and social needs of patients across the life span. Associates should also be able to demonstrate those competencies that address the needs of patients with unique cultural norms, religious preferences, language/communication barriers and/or literacy limitations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree in Perfusion Science, required. * Masters Degree in Perfusion Science, preferred. * Must be a graduate of an accredited perfusion technology program. * Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or board eligibility is required. * 1 year of experience, preferred. * New Grads are welcome to apply!
