Respiratory Limited Permit Holder, Varying Shift, Respiratory Therapy Department
UC Health is hiring a PRN Respiratory Limited Permit Holder for the respiratory therapy department for a varying shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Respiratory Limited Permit Holder, under general supervision, delivers non-critical patient care services to all age groups using selected invasive and noninvasive techniques related to the cardiopulmonary system. Duties performed will be based on the following: Approval of the Respiratory Care Board in accordance with the licensure act of the respective state. Must be checked off to perform duties by department orientation representative or department manager. Responsible for the performance of other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
* Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. * Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. * Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. * Performs and monitors patient progress and response to services. Assess patients and makes appropriate recommendations based on outcomes with regard to therapeutic interventions. Performs invasive and non-invasive therapeutic/diagnostic modalities. Procedure/services performed are according to department policy and procedure. * Correctly records all information in the patient legal record and maintains department records. Hand-off of care performed using the SBAR model. * Educates patients on their disease state, wellness, home care modalities and safety. * Applies technical knowledge to consult with physician with regard to cardiopulmonary status. Acts as a resource. Supportive of leadership initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED. Must be actively enrolled in a respiratory program. * Must have student licensure. Current license or permit to practice respiratory care issued by the respective state. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS). * Must be able to apply cardiopulmonary knowledge and skills appropriate to patient diagnosis. * Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in teams.
