Job Title:
Accessibility Document Specialist Duration: 7 months (contract) Location: Golden CO Remote Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accessibility Document Specialist to ensure that various documents meet accessibility standards using both manual and automated remediation techniques. This position requires expertise in document accessibility, including experience with software like Adobe Acrobat, Common Look, and assistive technologies such as screen readers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with accessibility guidelines and providing solutions for both complex documents and web-based content. This is a term-limited role with a focus on achieving compliance with accessibility standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Use tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Common Look, and others to remediate PDF documents, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Perform remediation on a variety of documents, including web pages and Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Test document accessibility using assistive technologies like JAWS, NVDA, and Narrator to ensure equitable and functional experiences for all users. Assist in fulfilling accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders. Track and report on the progress of document remediation activities. Monitor changes in accessibility and document standards, incorporating updates as necessary. Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to maintain the accessibility of materials. Perform additional duties as assigned to support document accessibility initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to learn and apply new software tools quickly. Demonstrated experience using Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products for document remediation.
Preferred Qualifications:
4-6 years of experience with Adobe Acrobat/Pro and Microsoft Office tools. Experience with document remediation tools like CommonLook PDF or other similar software. Experience using assistive technologies, such as JAWS, NVDA, or Narrator, for manual accessibility testing. Strong knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508, WCAG, and PDF/UA. Proven ability to independently identify accessibility issues, develop solutions, and implement plans of action. Strong organizational, communication, time management, and collaboration skills. High attention to detail and technical proficiency in accessibility tasks.
