Job Description
Lurie Children's Hospital is now offering two start dates for our comprehensive transition-to-practice Respiratory Care Practitioner Residency program.
Start Dates:
February 17th, 2025 & August 2025- (Specific Date TBD)
This program delivers a hands-on learning approach to facilitate and support the professional development of new graduate Respiratory Care Practitioners. Once admitted, the New Graduate RCP will practice, under the direct supervision of an experienced and licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
As a Respiratory Care Practitioner at Lurie Children's, you will be at the heart of our pediatric care team, making a difference everyday by providing top-quality and compassionate respiratory care services for the safe and effective care of neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients.

Required Prior to Start Date: Graduate from a Center on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited program prior to program start with
the minimum of an Associate Degree
in respiratory care. Possess an active Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association, active and in good standing. Possess an Active CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Have satisfactorily applied in writing to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Department seeking licensure, have a current license in IL, or have been issued a temporary license in IL.
Required within 90 days of hire: Successfully pass the Respiratory Care licensure examination by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
Required within 180 days of hire: Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Licensure must be furnished by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Department.
Required within the first year of hire: PALS/ NPR/ ACLS certifications.
