Job Description:
Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Surgery Overnight Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our esteemed surgical team. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide exceptional care to patients in the general surgery unit during overnight shifts, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of general surgery patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals. Provide advanced clinical care, including post-operative management, wound care, and other necessary procedures. Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response. Respond to emergencies and provide critical care support as needed. Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures, post-operative care, and discharge instructions. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research projects. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland. National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP). Minimum of 2 years of experience in general surgery or critical care. Advanced clinical skills in surgical care, including post-operative management and emergency response. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Certification in Surgical Nursing or relevant specialty. Bilingual proficiency.
Working Conditions: Full-time position with overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and high-stress situations.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. $20,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment.
