Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology . This role presents an exciting opportunity for candidates with leadership experience and expertise in pediatric pulmonology to lead a well-established division and drive innovation in pediatric pulmonary care. The University of New Mexico School of Medicine plays a vital role in the healthcare infrastructure of New Mexico, providing comprehensive services across 141 communities. As the state's primary referral center for Level 1 trauma and specialty pediatric medical and surgical services, we are committed to enhancing healthcare access and quality for all New Mexicans. UNM Children's Hospital
is the only full-service children's hospital in New Mexico, offering high-quality, compassionate care across more than 40 pediatric specialties. We proudly feature the state's largest Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited center, and Pediatric Emergency Room. Position Responsibilities: As the Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology, you will lead a division of fellowship-trained pulmonologists supported by a dedicated team of advanced practitioners, respiratory therapists, and nursing staff. Your role will involve: Developing and implementing clinical care pathways, staying current with the latest literature in pediatric pulmonology. Collaborating with subspecialists to enhance patient care and foster an inclusive and collaborative division culture. Mentoring pediatric residents and faculty, ensuring excellence in education and training. Maintaining an active clinical practice in pediatric pulmonology while contributing to the academic mission of the institution. Position Highlights: Oversee the state's only Cystic Fibrosis Center, which recently secured additional funding for new initiatives and PharmD support. Lead a
mission-driven program
with outreach clinics throughout the state, focusing on equitable healthcare access for underserved populations. Engage with the Centralized Office of Research for Pediatrics, providing a full spectrum of support services for active clinical trials in asthma, cystic fibrosis, and other pulmonary conditions. Minimum Qualifications: Able to obtain state licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico BC in Pediatric Pulmonary Experience in Medical Leadership Five years clinical experience Preferred Qualifications: Bronchoscopy experience Experience with state-wide outreach programs Evidence for leadership roles in academic medicine Experience mentoring of junior faculty Experience in graduate and undergraduate medical education Experience with research Experience with Quality Improvement Experience at an accredited Cystic Fibrosis Center A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
