All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *Essential Functions:* * In clinical collaboration with the attending physician, provides day to day organizational and clinical direction and leadership of the healthcare team and performs comprehensive history and physical assessment for patients in our ambulatory practice setting. * Establishes medical diagnosis based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings, with MD collaboration as needed. * Designs, orders, interprets, and documents appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment plans/plans of care including prescriptions of medications based on a comprehensive review of HPI and diagnostic results, with MD collaboration as needed. * Initiates protocols/clinical pathways, evaluates the plan of care ensuring timely intervention. * Collaborates with attending and residents as appropriate and communicates plan of care with appropriate providers including inpatient attending physicians, subspecialists referred to, nursing staff, and case managers. * Counsels and educates patients and family members in disease process, health maintenance and health promotion activities. Provides primary, secondary, and tertiary preventive care services. * Ensures confidentiality of patient information and communicates plan of care with the patients and family members and initiates appropriate referrals and specialty consultations or other agency involvements as needed. * Provides patient and family instruction related to the plan of care, disease process, new treatment plans, and medication regimens and advocates for patients ensuring. *Education:*Master's in nursing or Doctorate in Nursing. *Experience:*Current national certification from AANPNCB or other national certifying body (requires 18 months under a NP mentor before becoming certified) is required. *Certification/Licensure:*Current Maryland license in good standing issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner or appropriate federal district licensure where research is conducted. Licensed with specific patient population and/or specialty area of research is required. *Other:*Certification from Association of Clinical Research Professionals or Society of Clinical Research Associates preferred.
