Robert Half is hiring: Director of Accounting in Independence

We are working with a GROWING life insurance company in Kansas City as they look to add a Director of Accounting to their team! This is an exciting role for someone that wants to help build out a new accounting team and be part of some exciting growth in the years ahead! While this role is primarily in office, but there is a lot of flexibility including leaving the office every Friday at 1:30pm! Responsibilities:

• Oversee the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with guidelines.

• Take charge of the preparation of financial statements, including cash flow statements.

• Spearhead the training of accounting staff to ensure optimal performance.

• Uphold internal controls over account transactions and balances.

• Supervise timely reinsurance settlements for various lines of business.

• Oversee the month-end closing process with precision and thoroughness.

• Coordinate with auditors and tax accountants for the completion of yearly audits and tax filings.

• Utilize Excel for various tasks, including working with pivot tables, shortcuts, and macros.

• Leverage BlackLine and your knowledge of US GAAP and GAAP Accounting to streamline processes.

• Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of accounting or a related area

• Demonstrated proficiency in BlackLine software

• Knowledge of Statutory Accounting principles and practices preferred, not required

• Familiarity with US GAAP standards and regulations

• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP Accounting

• Proven experience in conducting Month End Close processes
